FLOOR COVERINGS
Perhaps the most obvious way to brighten up a house (after redecoration) is to lay new carpets throughout to give that impression of ‘fresh and new’, but it is worth thinking ahead and considering how long the carpet you have chosen might last under normal wear and tear.
A cheap chord carpet can last as little as 3 years, whereas a bit more money invested in a medium quality carpet can increase the life expectancy under normal use to 10 years. Investing in underlay could increase the life of your carpets by half again.
For best advice, in areas of the property that will experience the most wear, such as hallways and kitchens, investing in good quality laminates or ceramic tiles can significantly reduce the frequency of replacement and extend the intrinsic financial value when professionally fitted.
