CURTAINS

You are not obliged to provide curtains or indeed any type of window covering, but it is more than likely that someone living in your property will want to benefit from the privacy that curtains or blinds provide.  So supplying well fitted window coverings is a matter of courtesy and promotes positive principles, but make sure they are a neutral design.  You don’t want the lasting impression of your viewings to be the pattern on your grandma’s drapes…

If you are an absolute no to providing blinds or curtains, then the least that should be done to limit potentially acceptable wear and tear to the property is to install sturdy, usable curtain poles.  You cannot legitimately refuse a tenant permission to put up poles or tracks to help provide privacy, and what they install they have a right to remove at the end of the tenancy as long as they make good afterwards.  If your walls have to endure filling and painting every six months, just think what they might be like after three years.
